Like big jews my collies are room going can shops they got to the point where they could not care for their animals and since we have a retired Belgian mare, Belle, we agreed and took K.T.. K.T. is a beautiful black Percheron with a white blaze on her forehead. Her back right leg is slightly messed up we can't ride her, you can only notice when she runs. We were told there was a she was pregnant, but they didn't know when she was due. It was hard to believe as she was very thin. She filled out beautifully within 3 weeks. On 24th K.T. gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.... grandson named her Momma had no difficulty giving birth, she did it all by herself. We had K.T. a specific fenced area we could keep a closer eye on her.....well she must have wanted some privacey...she swam across the creek during the night and had her baby the early morning. When we found them the filly was still damp! Even tho we'd only had her a couple of months she loved and trusted us already and let us pet the baby and check her all out. Perfect. The father was a copper colored quarter hourse. is a beautiful tan suede color with a cream colored belly and chest. Her feet are black as are her tail and mane, she also looks like she has black eyeliner. Sweet disposition, and spoiled....she follows us around the pasture like a shadow. grandson is 2 2 yrs old, she is his, they grow up together learn to be partners. Thank you for letting me ramble on. Just all 3 of our girls. was not K.T.'s first baby but since we are unsure of her actual age we are not going to breed her again. What a great story, Percheron Quarterhorse mix makes a beautiful horse..I have a friend who has one and he's a whiteish gray silver...They just got him and they are getting use to him as he is to them, he's 17 yrs old and has always been with the same person since he was 6 months old..I have a really big soft spot for him I could stare at him all day, he looks like a unicorn without a horn..He can be a bit honory though, but he snaps out of it pretty quick... Your story brought me to tears....still weepy...Though raised with horses and ponies ,I am now the city. Just met two dapple grey geldings Per. It is first experience with drafts.....Oh how loving and sweet they are.....I use a chickadee whistle, call their names and bring carrots and 4 visits they know me!! I am 4' and they are 17hh I am taking it slow but hope I be allowed to groom them!!! I'm LOL Thax for your story! I just rescued approximately 18 month old Percheron gelding who is underweight but not terribly malnurished at this point. I have always had quarter horses and have never owned a draft. I am at a loss as to what to feed him and when to start training him with a saddle. I have heard opinions and none around here has experience with a draft. Can you please give me some ideas. I know I am going to clicker train him as I did quarters but when is question. This is the most loving and sweetest baby I have ever rescued I 't want to discourage him from being that way. Greetings! I have owned a Percheron Mare for 10 years now. She was a driving horse and when I got her at the age of 11 decided to try her out as a trailhorse. She took well to Natural Horsemanship and trailriding. I think that as as you use the 'Release is way of thinking that no matter what kind of training you do, you be fine. I am very excited for you and wish you years of wonderful enjoyment with this animal! Thank you much. challenge with him now appears to be keeping him a fence. He has realized he can push down the vinyl fencing and get out he goes into everyone else's pasture. Not a fan of electric fencing but this be the time I have to use it. Any suggestions on training him to stay I did not like electric fence either. With these draft horses and as big as they get you need electric fence. It's not bad really I've been zapped a few times myself. They
