According to the unit history, the aircraft, which was assigned to the 704th Tactical Air Support Squadron, was operating from Fort Bragg NC when it, and several other O-2Bs, were struck by high vortex-type winds on 6 Dec 1972. Several aircraft were pulled from the tie downs and damaged, including 67, which was pulled free by the winds and flipped over. It was one of two O-2s that were later written off due to excessive damage.
